“Without Sicily, Italy creates no image in the soul: Here is the key to everything!”
Johann Wolfang von Goethe
AIRPORTS
located 50 minutes by car from Taormina.
There are several flights from Rome (1 hour and 15 minutes) or Milan (1 hour and 45 minutes) by Italian Airways to Catania each day, which makes it an easy transfer if you are flying into Rome or Milan. There are also daily flights from Paris, London, Dubai among others; however these are much less frequent and usually operated by budget airlines.
For those flying from Hong Kong, as there are no direct flights to Rome currently, we recommend you fly through Milan as the multiple flights each day give the greatest flexibility when scheduling your itinerary. Do beware that most local flights are at Linate Airport near the city centre while international flights are usually at Malpensa Airport
(55 minutes away from each other)!
CAR TRANSFERS
We highly suggest booking a private car transfer instead of taking a taxi from Catania airport to Taormina. Your hotel will be able to recommend a trusted car service and book this for you or use online services such as WELCOME PICKUPS!
As guests will be arriving and departing at different times/days, we regrettably will not be arranging transportation to/from the airport.
DID YOU KNOW?
It’s no surprise that Sicily is called the Mecca of Italian Cuisine. In fact, the oldest Western record of “pasta” as a long and thin noodle comes from Sicily, while the origin of gelato can be traced all the way back to the 9th Century from, you guessed it, Sicily! Similarly the iconic fried rice balls Arancini are in fact Sicilian, with its roots tied to Arab influences in Sicily during the 10th Century.
TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENT DURING THE EVENTS
Transportation services will be fully arranged between event venues for guests on day 1 and day 3. No car transportation will be arranged for the wedding ceremony (day 2) as it will be held directly at Grand Hotel Timeo which is in the town centre.
Exact details of transport logistics for each event will be detailed in your Welcome Package later on.
